As a Higher Institution of Learning

According to Sierra Leone Higher Institution categorization, the American College of Science and Technology(ACOSAT), is a Privately owned  Category C Tertiary Education Institution and is progressively heading into category B and later to category A University. As a college of Science and Tech, we want to create a technological and scientific savvy communities in Africa. Responding to the appropriate manpower needs for the advancing Silicon Valley Hitech  companies ready to take Africa by storm. We want to help Sierra Leone and its people, and in fact, the whole of Africa and entire humanity to overcome poverty, hunger and youth unemployment. Science and Technology is the surest and shortest path to achieving these objectives because knowledge is power.

Our training is career-based, designed to provide sufficient skills necessary to operate a new Technology-based Start-up business for entrepreneurial-minded graduates.  We aim to provide complete and total training sufficient for many entry-level positions and enough skills to startup a business or self-employment. Our objective is to produce self-reliant graduates capable of creating their own jobs and/or getting good technology-based employment on graduation, from anywhere they like to apply for jobs they have qualified to do. ACOSAT is not obliged to find jobs for students.

In general, at ACOSAT, we introduce lucrative and job-market driving programs that provide the best and mostly needed skills-sets fit for the 21st century Hitech-jobs and profession  including skills to access Remote Jobs, which are now mainstream, thanks to the covid-19 pandemic. Meaning that, our students for example, can work for Amazon or Google from the comfort of their mothers’ kitchen. After completing our program our students should start seeking for employment everywhere tech jobs exist all over the world.

Amazon and ACOSAT Partnership

ACOSAT has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Cloud Computing is now introduced as a core subject at ACOSAT, open to any student. Amazon in partnership with ACOSAT will provide AWS training Free for one full year. However, student will not be admitted to do only Amazon Cloud Computing Program. Student will combine it with one’s registered program. At the end of the Cloud computing, student has to sit for Amazon online Exam in order to obtain Amazon AWS certificate in cloud computing and other designated courses. ACOSAT is relentless in making it easy for its students to become the best and brightest and to compete well and secure the best employment positions for which they are qualified. Again, students must work very hard to be on top.

Any student who desires NCTVA certificate must meet the requirements as outlined by NCTVA. Please go to the NCTVA website to learn about their exam’s requirements. ACOSAT will do its part and students will have to do what it takes to pass.

Our Associate Degree Program meets international labor standard to enable students who have completed our IT programs to seek and find job anywhere in the world. Our Associate degree is structured to meet the US and Canada employment standard. If you are interested in oversea employment, you must meet Associate degree requirements.

 2-year Associates Degree Requirements

An associate degree is an undergraduate academic degree awarded by community colleges, technical colleges and bachelor’s degree-granting colleges and universities upon completion of a course of study usually lasting two years- accumulating 60 units or credits. ACOSAT is an equivalent of the US & Canada 2-year community colleges. ACOSAT is also equivalent of technical colleges that offer 2-year Associate Degree in the US & Canada. In the United States, an associate’s degree is equivalent to the first two years of a four-year college or university degree. It is the lowest in the hierarchy of postsecondary academic degrees offered in the Higher Institutions of learning in the western world. The associate degree is awarded to students who complete the degree requirements established by the institution granting it. Some people refer to associate’s degrees as “two-year” degrees because it is possible to obtain the degree in approximately that time frame.

College transfer refers to the movement of students from one college, university or school to another. It is the process by which transfer credits representing educational experiences, courses, degrees or credentials are accepted or not accepted by a receiving institution. Acceptance of transfer credit is determined by the receiving institution’s transfer policy. When the college or university determines whether and how much credit to apply to your individual degree plan, that credit will then appear on your official academic transcript of the institution. ACOSAT credits can be transferred to other colleges and university. We also can receive credits transferred from other accredited Higher Institutions. You must meet our requirements.

Transfer credit generally covers formal course work. Credit by examinations, experiential learning credits and external training credits are all treated like transfer credits. Not all courses count as transfer credit. For instance, CEU’s or what is known as Continuing Education Units and Remedial Course credits are not generally counted as transfer credit. Check to make sure the courses you are considering for transfer are eligible for transfer credit.

Credential Evaluation by Approved Agencies

ACOSAT recommends that any students who plan to use their Certificates and/or Associate Degree or Diploma to seek employment or transfer to any US or Canada, UK or European Union Higher Institution of Learning,  must first evaluate academic credentials. When you fail to do the course or credit evaluation you will not be able to use your credentials in the US or Canada or other western nations. But before you evaluate your credentials, you must first find out the NACES member organization your employer or institution is using. This information is also a warning to all of our students who have oversea plan or ambition.

Over Reliance on ACOSAT Credentials

We encourage all students to learn the skills-set associated with the course of study. We challenge all students to use their skills to impress or surprise their potential employers. While ACOSAT is striving for quality and excellence, however, brandishing our certificates is not enough for the employers to hire you. You must know and demonstrate all necessary and required skills the employers need, before you can be hired and consequently be retained on the job. You cannot be respected if you lack the skills to do the job you are hired to provide regardless of where you have studied. You must demonstrate that you have acquired the skills you claimed to have studied. Thank you again, for choosing ACOSAT as your ICT college because we knew you had other opportunities and options before choosing us.

ACOSAT WISHES YOU GOODLUCK
